Anyone who works from home will attest to the fact that it is hard to maintain high levels of productivity throughout a working day. Some research suggests that more gets done when working in a relaxed setting around other workers, which is why there has been a massive increase in the number of co-working spaces around the world in the last few years. At home, there are many possible distractions, so it is imperative to stay on target and keep motivated. So how can home workers improve their focus?
In offices, the average worker loses a whopping 86 minutes per day through distractions. And this is a place where it’s harder to browse social media or watch television for fear of your boss seeing and chastising you. At home, workers are their own bosses who are free to do anything they want. For this reason, it is important to have strategies in place to keep motivation high.
Exercise
One of the most important things is to exercise regularly and stay fit. Going to the gym could eat up a lot of time out of your working day, though, so investing in fitness equipment to use at home is a great idea. You could even place weights and skipping ropes around your office so you can get the blood pumping when you need a break from your work. Research has shown that exercise helps sharpen focus, increase energy, and enhance mood, so it is absolutely essential to maintain a regular fitness routine.
Play!
During your working day, you are bound to have some moments of procrastination. But what you do in these times could also have an effect on your focus and motivation. Playing short games which give you a chance of winning rewards is an excellent way to reinforce the notion that there will be a payoff at the end of all your hard work. With this in mind, gambling games like roulette and blackjack are ideal options to procrastinate with. Playing live casino games can make you feel as though you are actually in a casino. The only difference is you can stop at any time and instantly return to your work.
Eat Healthy
Eating healthy is another way to maintain focus which can easily be done at home. There are certain types of foods and snacks which have been found to be great for helping brain function and allowing people to work smarter. Blueberries are excellent for their antioxidants which help improve the flow of blood to your brain. This helps with memory and concentration. Avocados do this as well, and are also loaded with fibre to assist with digestion. For a drink, green tea is the best option as it contains caffeine and L’theanine which increases alpha wave activity.
Doing all of these things is sure to boost that motivation at home. Other things to consider are moving into a room where there is no TV, and banning yourself from social media websites. This way there will be fewer distractions.
