Take a small vacation

It’s easy to get into the same cycle of thinking when all we see is a computer screen, the same colleagues, and the same office every day. Getting away from it all and not thinking about work gives you the chance to free your mind up and return with new, fresh ideas. While you don’t necessarily need a week-long vacation to help you feel rejuvenated, a day trip to the mountains, the beach, a lake or whatever it might be, can still give you time to remove yourself from the source of your mental block at your workplace.

A new style

We shouldn’t be tied to our looks, but it’s hard to deny the fresh feeling you get after buying a new suit, a new pair of shoes, or even getting a bold, trendy haircut. For example, if you’re a woman who has had long, blonde hair all her life, try a fresh, new look and see if short blonde hair does anything to help. You’ll most likely find that the “old” you are associated with a certain style, and the “new” you will be more confident and motivated than ever before.

Attempt more yoga and exercise

Nearly every business person these days sits too much, whether it’s on a commute, at a computer, during meetings, etc. Stretching your muscles with yoga or working out a few times a week with whatever kind of sport you prefer (as part of a team, at the gym, or running trails) makes you feel so much more alive and inspired. Many other entrepreneurs agree that an exercise is a great form of inspiration, like Nick Barron, who says: “Regular, vigorous exercise is absolutely essential to my motivation and productivity. There’s a direct correlation between daily exercise and my ability to function as an entrepreneur and small business owner. Plainly put, if I don’t exercise, I don’t work, at least not as well and as efficiently as I need to work. The half-hour to an hour devoted each day to exercise is without a doubt worth its weight in gold or, in my case as a consultant, billable hours.”

Connect with friends and family members

Sometimes, we simply need some support and guidance from those we trust. It’s often the case that our colleagues or clients won’t tell us the truth and say what we really want to hear. It’s through close friends and family that we can pour out our frustrations and get back some good advice in the process. It could also be a good idea to meet new people and expand your friend circle via meetups and industry events.

When we take the time to better ourselves through exercise, a new look, meeting with loved ones, and getting away from the office for a few days, then our confidence can be sky high and we’re ready to take on challenges both old and new.
