If you’re thinking about moving, you’ll already know that it might be a stressful experience. With help from the experts at Compare The Man & Van, we’ve created a checklist of what type of moving van you’ll need to hire when shifting from one house to another.

Medium wheelbase transit

This shouldn’t be your first choice if you’re moving a complete house since it’s the smallest van size available for transport. However, it may be an alternative for individuals who don’t want to take everything at once.

This van may be a wonderful option for anyone who needs to store some of their less essential goods in storage while they relocate all of their belongings and settle into their new house. It can typically transport up to 30 boxes, which is the same as a 16 square foot storage container. Vans for rent may also be used to transport one larger item of furniture, which can come in handy if you need to get rid of some of your old items before the relocation.

What is the length of a medium wheelbase transit?

Take, for example, a Ford Transit L2 Medium Wheelbase Van with an overall length of 5.531 meters. The interior load length is 3.044 meters (to put that in the context of furniture removal, the typical length of a bed is around 2m). With a length of 7.6 m (25 feet), the Ford Transit L2 Medium Wheelbase Van is the shortest of the three Ford Transit Wheelbase models, with the Ford Transit L3 Long Wheelbase Van and the Ford Transit L4 Extra Long Wheelbase Van both providing longer moving van sizes.

There are two types of van roofs: high and standard

The roof on the Ford Transit L2 Medium Wheelbase Vans is available in two sizes. The standard roof size (which comes with the L2H2 versions) is 1.886m high for the FWD (front-wheel drive) model and 1.786m high for the RWD/AWD models (rear-wheel and all-wheel-drive models). L2H3 models feature a higher roof height of 2.125m (FWD) or 2.025m (RWD/AWD), which equals 4 degrees more than the previous generation. If you have a lot of furniture to move with longer dimensions, the high roof size may be preferable. It will also expand your overall storage capacity by at least 1.2 cubic meters, assuming your space is limited enough.

Long wheelbase transit

This is the next size up from a short wheelbase transit if you need more capacity in your vehicle. For those who are moving out of a single or double bedroom with little or no furnishings and appliances, or for anybody who is moving into a property that already has furnishings. This car is ideal for a young person who has just moved out of their family home and into his or her place.

How much stuff can you transport in a long-wheelbase transit vehicle?

With a load capacity of 12 to 14 cubic meters and a length of 6.9 meters (sizes vary depending on the make and model), it’ll have plenty of storage for your clothes. The third-row bench is also accessible from the driver’s seat, making this van ideal for transporting items and furniture to your new house or shipping everything to a storage facility if you don’t intend on moving right away.
