Working from has become widely popular in recent years with the emergence of jobs that do not require presence in an office. Of course, it’s even more prevalent now since the outbreak of COVID-19. For many employees, the concept wasn’t foreign at all, while others struggled to find solid ground in trying to be as productive and efficient in their jobs as they were from the office. To help you navigate it all, here are some tips to spend your time working from home comfortably. 

1. Plan The Day

Having a plan for the day is the first step toward spending your work-from-home time feeling at ease. It will help when you know how your day will go by the hour instead of winging it as you go. Try getting a planner or make a to-do list and jot down how your day will look like after setting specific working hours. You can include tasks, meetings, and even schedule your mealtimes. This self-tracking will help you measure your productivity and find out what works best. If you have flexible hours, try to schedule them at times where you are most productive.

2. Create a Morning Routine

Human beings always find solace in familiarity and consistency. That’s why establishing a morning routine is essential to work comfortably from home. If you were working from an office, you probably had a certain morning routine that you followed, even if it’s as simple as taking a shower and drinking a cup of coffee before leaving. A good chair will ensure you maintain a healthy posture, supporting your lower back and giving you space to recline as well. Just make sure you set your workspace in a quiet place away from any distractions.

4. Get The Right Tech

It’s far from comfortable to spend a lot of your time struggling with your slow devices or a poor internet connection. It may come with a bill, but investing in quality tech will save you a lot of time and increase your productivity. Start with the basics like a laptop or home desktop with its accessories and a high-performance router. You might need other devices aligned with your field of work which you should prioritize in your month’s budget. It will all be worth it when you stop dropping out of meetings because of poor devices or the internet.

5. Schedule Breaks

That’s right, just like you need to schedule tasks and meetings ahead of time, you need to do the same with your breaks. In your quest to spend your time working from home comfortably, don’t forget that your mind and body still need time to rest. Taking small, 10-15 minute breaks will go a long way in making the rest of the working day comfortable. Make sure you get up and move during your breaks to get your blood circulating and boost your energy.

People find comfort in other people, as much as we try to deny it or prove it wrong. Working from home can get lonely sometimes without any co-workers to bicker or take lunch breaks with. So why not use your company’s employee communication app to socialize with your teammates by creating a separate group for sharing interests and funny memes! It can make all the difference in how you spend the rest of your day, knowing you have support at work.
