[tweetmeme]I previously wrote about our experience in working with the contextual advertising network Kontera in the piece entitled “Earning from Inline Text Advertising: Review of Kontera”. In the article, I discussed the pros and cons in using Kontera as an advertising partner and a strategy to monetize the website.
What I did not disclose was that the article was an entry to a contest run by Kontera in November called “Kontera Show & Tell-Showoff-Showdown”. Kontera was looking for the best review of their advertising offering, and the winner will receive an iPad.
I’m happy to announce that Kontera judged my piece as the winner of their contest !
They quickly sent my prize and I got my iPad last Friday. Thank you, Kontera!
Since I wrote the piece, Kontera has made adjustments to our account. As one of the cons, I wrote that Kontera doesn’t allow for channels. When the piece came out, they activated the feature that would allow us to create and track channels to more easily evaluate what topic/sections of the site actually generate the most revenue. Implementing the channels is now in my to-do list.
They also addressed the concern I have regarding the lack of control where the ads are shown (e.g. the heading/subtitle of the site are underlined with ads).
We’ve worked with a number of ad agencies through the years, and Kontera’s willingness to work with their publishers is a breath of fresh air. Many of these agencies simply don’t care about small potatoes like us — from non responsive customer service to non-payment of the amount earned.
Even though we’re not a huge money earner for them, Kontera made us feel that they value our participation in their network — and that to me is a great deal.
How do you find the advertising networks that you work with?
Kontera is great leading provider of pay per click advertising solutions for advertisers and publishers.
Kontera is something new to me as I have used many ad networks for my home-based Website and business. I will look them up for a go!
