Q.
I basically have my name,
logo, and goal for my clothing line. But I just don't know how
to go about beginning. I have a team who's ready to give there
all, but we just need a little jump start.-- Joey
A.
Dear Joey,
Great going on getting your basic identity together. Now put
it into an identity package (business card, letterhead,
envelopes) and just walk out the door and start talking to and
calling potential customers. It's almost that simple.
Of course, it would also be a good idea to write a brief
marketing plan that starts with your goals. For instance: How
much money do you want to earn in the first six months? How much
do you have to sell to do this? How many clients do you have to
have to sell this amount of product? How many calls do you have
to make to attract these customers? What else do you plan to do
to attract customers? (advertising, flier, brochure, etc) Who is
your target market? Where are they? What are their needs? How
does your product meet their needs? What's unique about your
product?
Here are some other questions to consider: How much do you
have in start up funds? Is it enough to market? If not, where
can you get more? Who is going to do what on your team?
marketing, sales, administrative, bookkeeping, etc Do you have a
business checking account established? You need to be using this
now for any expenses.
Set trackable, specific goals for yourself and your business
then get out there and make it happen.
