Business Idea: Building an Errand and Running Business

Q. I am interested in starting business my own business as an errand runner / driver but I don't know how to get started. Can you please give me some leads as to how to get started? - Erica

Advice by Newsletter Subscriber - Doris Y. Haines from Indiana

Dear Erica:

1. Placing cards on grocery store free bulletin boards, library bulletin boards, school bulletin boards, church bulletin boards, church bulletins, in any pharmacy that will allow you to, nursing homes, senior citizen residences, shops such as printers or cleaners who do not have delivery service. Even when not practical to place on bulletin board, you can encourage people to keep your business card for times someone will need an errand. Have plenty of good character references. Advertise 'character references on request.'

2. Deliver one-page flyers within your own neighborhood, or the neighborhoods of your current clients (saves some mileage).

3. Possibly schedule similar errands at a particular time of day--grocery shopping errands all done in the a.m. for instance, possibly from one or two nicely priced stores for all your clients.

The more we think about it, the more ideas come. I wish you great results. Doris in Indiana
