into Profitable Businesses

Q.
I am reaching out,
with no success, to join with others in the formation of creative or high
concept new business ventures of the kind that are interesting to me. But I'm
getting no response to my proposals, nor am I finding others in the same
position as myself, that I might join with. All I find searching the web
is MLM! One fellow, locally, who finally found time to talk with me about a
toy he wanted to develop, only then tried to inveigle me into telemarketing
for a restaurant! And, Online, I have worked very hard to try to recruit the
expertise to help form a business venture and raise Capital for a software
engineer with a revolutionary concept. But, after six months, when I actually
found an MBA who expressed enthusiasm, to my horror the software engineer
stonewalled the MBA and went into hiding. Now the MBA is alienated. And things
have gone downhill from there. All damage control has failed. And, to further
complicate matters, I am subject of slander by other parties entirely, who
seem to have interjected themselves into this corner of my life as well. I am

Dear Aaron:
How many times did Einstein fail before coming up with an invention that
was marketable? How much money goes up in flames when NASA launches in the
name of scientific research? Sometimes it can take years of failures and a
whole lot of money before you hit on the one big idea that brings success.
It sounds to me like you are trying to be the middleman in these capital
ventures, putting an inventor together with someone who can help get the
product off of the ground. This is called middle management, and if you are
educated on the tales of corporate America, it is the middle management
faction who are being eliminated. Additionally, you are trying to deal with
scientific personalities, and unless you have a degree in psychology, you are
probably going to hit some stumbling blocks.
My suggestion is to take ONE idea, only the one that you have the most
faith in. Do the absolute best you can with and for that idea, to help it grow
and to turn that dream into reality. When you spread yourself out so thin, you
are not giving everything you have or can to any particular idea. Take that
ONE idea and start building it, first as a business through a business and
marketing plan and then take it to the public. Become an expert in the areas
you are weak in. Listen very carefully to those who offer wisdom. Research
until you are blue.
Once you have raised that one idea, from the ground up, you will have
accomplished a great success--whether it be a marketable product or not, you
will have the experience and expertise to move on to the next grand idea.
