New label Peachypan opens up shop selling geisha inspired hair accessories from the confines of a cramped suburban bedroom.
(news continued below)
23 year old Australian based designer, Fee Harding, the creator behind
the label, recently spent a year abroad in Japan and is now back bumming off
her parents spare room with the eternal hope of making it big one day.
She realized the potential of Japanese crafts outside of Japan and it's
her aim to make geisha wear cute, affordable and hopefully seen in the hair
of million's. Peachypan's candy colored, geisha inspired pieces are designed
from a female based perspective and are set to shake up this once, male
artisan, based craft. The hair accessories made from silk are hand dyed and
range from simple flower clips to elaborate hair accessories containing well
over a 100 hand folded petals. Peachypan's designs are all about putting
Japanese culture, art and design into a cocktail shaker and creating
something a little off beat.
