While video projectors have come down in price and size over the years, it
seems there’s still a distance from a handy one realizing real portability.
What a fantasy if you have a pocket projector always on hand – to present
PowerPoint slides to a small group of customers or for quickly consulting an

Now you have! Futek unveiled the world's smallest commercially available
pocket projector PP01 on March 1st, 2008. Measuring only 105 x 58 x 26mm
(1cm shorter than an iPhone) and 180 grams, it projects a range of
multimedia up to 50" in size.
With a suggested retail price of $599 at launch, the PP01 is designed to
appeal to both corporate and home users that value ease and convenience
combined with good quality features.
Roy Chiu, CEO of Futek Technology commented on an interview: "While
mobile multi-media subscription services are on the rise, with Futek’s PP01
pocket projector you could view and share everything ranging from YouTube
videos, MSN newscasts, and Google search results to PowerPoint
presentations, feature-length films, and family photos in a large,
full-color, hi-resolution format instead of a 2-inch, QVGA display. The PP01
pocket projector has achieved significant interest amongst some big
retailers and we are discussing commercial proposals with them now. We
expect sales of the pocket projector to be high according to the present
distribution negotiations. There is nothing like the pocket projector on the
market today - it is a true hybrid product that can be used for both
business and leisure. Its “plug-and-play” feature is a great help to attract
more users."
Futek says that PP01 pocket projector can project a VGA (640 X 480
pixels), DVD quality image - offering a very different experience from the
tiny 2-inch display solutions available today. PP01 connects directly to
laptops, mobile phones, portable media players (PMPs), digital cameras and
other mobile devices to project large, high-resolution images and video onto
any surface. Furthermore, its built-in MP4 player feature allows you to just
insert a Micro SD card to present or share your files without connecting
with any device.
