Wake County Public School Lifelong Learning Instructor partners with the Learning Design Groups to provide a new Micro Business Course for home-based bakers.
(news continued below)
Ever thought of selling your double fudge brownies or your grandma's
delicious southern pecan pie? Learn how to take your product from kitchen to
market. How to Operate a Home-Based Bakery is now an online course for
bakers and candy makers.
There are currently 10 states that allow home-based bakers to sell their
baked goods directly to the public. The states are: Iowa, Kentucky, Maine,
New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Utah, and,
Virginia. There are also countless counties across the United States that
also allow bakers to operate a home-based bakery.
The 10 week course offered by the Learning Design Group will cover the
compliance regulations for “your state” along with information on basic
recipe development, food storage, food safety and sanitation; practical
benefits of advertising/marketing, (press release design/alternative media
submissions) branding, selling products online and more.
“Foodies” across the nation are starved for unique delicious baked goods.
People are growing weary cardboard desserts and cheesecakes dowsed with red
syrup. Home-based bakers are the Michelangelo's of the baking world; ready
to share their culinary gifts with their community.
How to Operate a Home-Based Bakery allows students flexibility so they
can study at their own pace, learn from bakers all over the world, work from
the comfort of their home, and access their course from anywhere. Home-based
bakers are quickly becoming a staple of modern life.
