That's about 1.4 blogs created every second of every day. There are approximately 1.5 million postings per day (or about 17 posts per second.)

Latest Findings Related to Blog Abandonment

A report released by Perseus stated that 66.0% of surveyed blogs had not been updated in two months, "representing 2.72 million blogs that have been either permanently or temporarily abandoned".

One of the main reasons cited for this (up till now) has been the amount of work involved to get a blog search engine optimized, and to draw traffic to the site.

For business bloggers, this is both good news and bad. It's bad news because it shows how difficult it's been to rise to the top of the blogosphere.
