The Inc. 5000 list represents the most comprehensive look at the most
important segment of the economy-- America's independent entrepreneurs. A
key requirement for earning a placement on the list is the rate of earnings
growth between 2005 through 2008, (to qualify, companies must be able to
demonstrate four full calendar years of sales). Additional requirements
included: being U.S.-based, privately held, for profit and independent. The
companies could be not subsidiaries or divisions of other companies -- as of
December 31, 2008.
