-- The Nexus Hawk mobile router’s feature set has been enhanced with the
release of firmware version 1.3.0. This enhancement is available at no cost
to existing customers.
(news continued below))
The feature set included: Embedded FIPS 140-2 compliant SSL subsystem,
updated cellular data card drivers (as from Sierra Wireless, Sprint 597e,
AT&T Option GT Max 3.6 and GC89), embedded support for TAIP-formatted GPS
output and multi-target GPS delivery (optional GPS required).
“The core system was recompiled with a FIPS 140-2 compliant SSL module
because Nexus takes information security seriously,” said Evhen Tupis, who
leads the Product management team.
In regard to the GPS enhancements, Gary Boone, a Nexus Channel Sales
Manager noted, “Having NMEA-0183 support was good. With TAIP added, the
Nexus Hawk is natively compatible with an even larger number of
standards-based AVL and tracking systems.” With “multi-target GPS delivery”,
the Nexus Hawk may also send the same GPS information to several
target-hosts at the same time.
