Constantly seeking ways to ensure the continued success of the train,
KSTDC has been in the forefront to seek out channel partners to market the
luxury train effectively. In pursuance of this goal, KSTDC has signed an
Agreement with The Leela group of hotels to facilitate and market The Golden
Chariot in India and abroad.
Speaking at the launch, the Chief Minister said, “I am really proud of
our achievement in putting The Golden Chariot on track. It has not only put
Karnataka Tourism on the international map but has become one of the more
prestigious products of the country. These marketing initiatives are
essential if we wish to make The Golden Chariot one of the most coveted
train journeys in the world. This will also turn the attention to
Karnataka’s tourism industry.”
He added, “We hold great potential for tourism in the state and if
marketed properly, the state stands to benefit immensely. Tourism creates
myriad opportunities, provides employment to many, boosts regional
craftsmanship and artistry and The Golden Chariot provides an opportunity
for Karnataka.” The Chief Minister also added that The Golden Chariot had
brought in a new impetus to the tourism industry.
The Golden Chariot has already won laurels for its impeccable service and
tour itinerary that offers a unique and overwhelming experience to the
tourists. So far the train has charted over 5 journeys and the next tour is
scheduled on for 28th July 2008.
The KSTDC has empanelled 6 General Sales Agents (GSA’s) for the marketing
of this product in the international markets. This policy document that has
been initiated by KSTDC is the first of its kind for the trade for a luxury
product of this nature. This policy document very clearly outlines the
roles, responsibilities and marketing initiatives by these trade partners
and also outlines the policy to be adopted for the online reservation
system.
