New Business Tool Changing Direct Mail Advertising
The website contains a map driven program, which allows the user to highlight any area on a map and pull the mailing list automatically.

June 27, 2008 ( PowerHomeBiz ) - Eden Prairie, MN  --  Dan Hessburg has owned his own building company, Hessburg Homes, for 35 years. He’s also been a Remax® Realtor for that length of time. When he’s looking for his customer, he’s extremely picky.

(news continued below))

“I want people who have higher incomes and are interested in spending that money on luxury living in an elite community.” said Hessburg.

Hessburg has always spent the majority of his advertising budget on direct mail. But his success didn’t match the quality of his homes.

“I’d spend hundreds of dollars, send thousands of postcards, and 60 to 80 of them would come back with the wrong address.”

Then he tried a new technique just being introduced by a company called Power Prospecting www.mypowerprospecting.com  The website contains a map driven program, which allows the user to highlight any area on a map and pull the mailing list automatically. An advertiser can sort through dozens of demographic selections and filter the list to their needs. There are no constraints of mailing to an entire zip code, in a radius, or knowing the carrier routes. The program also offers satellite views and it’s about a third of the cost of traditional lists.

“Its revolutionary technology,” said Gary Phillips, president of Power Prospecting and a long time list broker. “This new program has many applications. A pizza parlor can now mail to their delivery area, home improvement companies can mail to storm damage areas and school bus companies can mail to every student’s home on any particular route. One owner of a spa/pool store was able to pull every home within 5 miles of his store that owned a pool. It saved him from mailing to someone he didn’t want to target,” Phillips explained.

Ana Flynn works for DTG Minnesota, a company that sells phone systems. She too has played the traditional direct mail game for years. But sometimes her advertising didn’t even get to the right address. Flynn says when she used Power Prospecting’s new program, every single name and address was up to date.

“It used to be so frustrating, to spend all this money targeting your customer and not even have the message get to them,” said Flynn, who was able to get 150 names and address for just 24 dollars and signed a new customer within days. “Before this, we spent hundreds of dollars for the same result.”

Power Prospecting operates a list brokerage firm headquarter in Minnesota. They incorporated in June of 2003. They provide lists to consumers and businesses worldwide. Phillips says they have more than 600 product and service categories for clients to choose from. But what might be the most unique thing about them, you don’t have to sit there with a salesperson while trying to figure out who you want to advertise too.

“I really like that I could work independently and play around with the system to figure out what customers I wanted to target and how much it would cost me. There was no pressure at all,” said Flynn.

“I’ve looked at a lot of lists, but never worked as well as this,” said Hessburg. “I absolutely will use it over and over.”
