Operating under the banner of ‘The Wedding Poet’, Kate provides a
uniquely client-led approach to finding poems, readings, speeches and
stories for people’s wedding days. But Kate also can be seen performing her
own poetry. She will be performing at the Eastbourne New Writer’s Day at the
Langham Hotel in Eastbourne in East Sussex on 2th May 2009 where anyone
interested in procuring her services as a Wedding Poet can meet her and
discuss their needs further – whether it be a romantic poem or a humorous
poem or even a speech in poem form.
Kate Tym started her career working for the international publishing
house, Random House. She worked there for eight years rising from Editorial
Assistant to the role of Commissioning Editor. She left Random House in 1998
to pursue her writing career on a freelance basis and has since had over
thirty titles published. But she has decided the time has now come for a
change of direction and she is returning to her first love – writing and
performing poetry. Kate will be performing as a guest at Hammer and Tongue
Brighton on Thursday 2nd April 2009 and again at the Lovewood Festival at
Dernwood Farm, Heathfield, East Sussex. She will have a stand at both of
these events to promote The Wedding Poet.
As The Wedding Poet, Kate Tym, is able to take other people’s words and
thoughts and turn them into a piece of professionally honed creative
writing. Wedding poems to date have tended to be generic in nature, whereas
through The Wedding Poet a couple can have a piece of wedding poetry that is
completely unique to them and yet written to a high professional standard.
Working in a very organic and personal way The Wedding Poet is able to get
right to the centre of what a client is trying to express and then put it
into poetry form. And as a performance poet herself, Kate understands the
stresses connected to standing up and reading poetry in front of a large
audience. She can assist her clients with their reading skills and make sure
their wedding poem or wedding speech is delivered in a faultless and
professional way.
The service is very flexible in nature as any type of wedding reading can
be accommodated and the wedding poems need not be restricted simply to
brides and grooms - any member of the wedding party can commission a poem or
reading if they wish, there is even the possibility of replacing a
traditional wedding ‘speech’ with a wedding poem instead.
The Wedding Poet can also provide a framed copy of the commissioned
wedding poem which can then be kept as a treasured reminder of the client’s
special day.
The Wedding Poet will also offer the service of writing poems for any
other celebratory occasions, such as christenings and birthdays and can also
cater for the sadder times in life, such as funerals and memorial services.
