With New Version of Popular Securities Research Platform, Knowledge Mosaic Inc. Charts Course for Future
Amidst tectonic forces reshaping the financial and business landscape, Knowledge Mosaic Inc. today unveiled a dramatically redesigned version of its popular website and research platform Securities Mosaic. The upgrade is aimed at helping users keep pace with a wave of changes not seen in the industry since the 1930s.

March 5, 2009 ( PowerHomeBiz ) - Seattle, WA  - Knowledge Mosaic has long offered a suite of electronically delivered news publications for the securities and financial services industries, but its role as a current awareness resource was sometimes overshadowed by its corollary role as a provider of data and research tools. The launch of the new Securities Mosaic, featuring a dynamic, news-oriented home page linking daily to world press articles, blogs, law firm memos, and editorially selected data, reasserts the company’s identity as a news provider.

At the same time, the redesigned site delivers enhanced usability and functionality. Inspired by information design legend Edward Tufte, the site’s designers have greatly enlarged the page size; added a universal index of its searchable databases via a Search Pages tab; and installed sidebar menus to help users quickly navigate from page to page. “We felt that the tabbed organization of our old home page ended up compressing our search pages within discrete silos,” said lead designer Hester Serebrin. “Our goal was to open up the site, to ensure that our subscribers are aware of the full breadth and scope of information Securities Mosaic makes available to them.”

Larger-scale changes, however, were the driving force behind the redesign. As Knowledge Mosaic president and founder Peter Schwartz explains, “New technologies such as XBRL, collaboration platforms, and next-generation search engines will overturn the way legal and compliance professionals interact with and consume information. And that process was in motion even before the meltdown on Wall Street. Now, throw in the fact that the entire financial industry itself is being torn apart and remade, and you have a truly historic moment of change.”

Schwartz was quick to take an optimistic view of this tumultuous climate. “Sure, it’s a tremendous challenge, but it’s also a unique opportunity for those of us who have been in the game for a while. The future is changing no matter what, and this gives us a chance to make our vision part of the future that does emerge. We’re looking forward to riding the wave.”
