The Travel business has felt their share of set back from The Global
Financial Crises to the ITB World Travel Trend Report regarding a sharp
slowdown in tourist activity, with a further outlook of decline in 2009, and
thus, a visible result is hotels cutting prices.

But it´s still difficult to know for sure what will be the ultimate effect.
The question is: with less money to spend, how will people spend their cash this year?
Some say travel is still what people will make their priority. And generally speaking,
in difficult times, when we spend hard earned money we look for quality, and also perhaps,
the quality of life. The Luxury Institute who has looked at how the financial crises has
affected the rich consumers predicts that thoughtless spending is over, and regarding travel
that means, instead of over the top luxurious hotels, people are moving more towards Nature
and Physical and Mental balance, instead of status symbols.
Despite the low economy, however, Youth Travel is still a fast-growing segment of the tourist
market and has a huge growth potential for the future according to the UNWTO (World Tourism organization).
It accounts for 20% of International tourists arrivals worldwide.
>Youth hostels
are still the number one choice for the young travelers – but they have lately been
trading up to hotel and budget hotels - perhaps also bitten by the fact that in hard times
we look for that extra quality.
Many hostels these days follow their demands and are also improving their standards so much
they are bordering closer to Hotel standards. A budget accommodation can be more luxurious
than you would have imagined. For example, take a look at The Designer Hostel
> Danhostel Copenhagen City
or the > Pfefferbett Hostel in Berlin.
