This was the first church remodel for the team and it proved to be a challenge due to the short time allotted to complete the job. The team was hired to help update the Welcome Center and Worship Center Lobby and provide a more welcoming and inviting atmosphere that reflects the church’s motto “A Place to Call Home, a Place to Find Hope”.

“We started working with Executive Pastor Shay Reyner on December 3rd who wanted to have the project completed prior to their annual Christmas Pageant. The target date of December 17th, gave us just over two weeks to purchase all of the furniture and accessories. My Home Staging background played a big part in creating a design concept. When a home is staged, it has to appeal to a broad range of potential buyers, so we used several Staging techniques to appeal to the tastes of a diverse congregation. For example, we chose to keep a few of the familiar traditional pieces the church already owned, but added new key pieces and updated colors and fabrics to help create a more transitional comfortable look.” said Varney.

There were also some minor interior remodel projects that needed to be finished. Varney was impressed with the way the church members stepped up to assist with some of the last minute technical, carpentry and electrical tasks. “We added a large screen flat screen to the lobby area to feature some of the church photos and events and mounted it over a large apothecary hutch that also stores brochures. The new lobby also includes several comfortable seating areas, new lighting and decorative accents to create a more home-like environment.

Varney was pleased with the project adding, “We were able to accomplish our objective of providing quality furniture with broad appeal within their budget in a short period of time. I know the congregation was pleased”. According to Debra Mangum, realtor and church member and Pastor Shay Reyner the remodel was a huge success. Members loved the transformation and felt it truly embodied the spirit of their motto “A Place to Call Home”.
