Starting a
Personalized Greeting Card Business
| |
 |
|
Q.
I've been apart
from my husband for over a year because of our military career. As a result, I
have created a number of cards that I've sent to him to let him know I think
of him constantly. They've been great for the both of us. I know there are
many people in my situation and I would love to share my cards with them, but
I don't know how to market them. Being in the military, it's tough to try to
start my own business. How can I get started on letting others take a look at
my work? Who would I need to contact?

Dear Nancy
We have a person who has very unique post cards also. She did two things
that helped her share her work with people. First, she found little street
fairs or community fairs and got a booth (usually for crafts they run anywhere
from $75 to $150) and had them on display where she could talk to people about
them. Second, she took out an ad in the local newspaper giving information on
her postcards and invited people to write in if they wanted more information.
Hope this helps!
